Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about ImageZen4u's free image tools.

Privacy and Security

No. This is the most important thing about ImageZen4u. All image processing happens entirely in your browser using two open-source JavaScript libraries — the Canvas API and browser-based AI models. Your files are processed in your browser's memory and never transmitted to any server. We cannot access your files even if we wanted to — there is no upload endpoint on our infrastructure.
We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate site usage (page views, countries, device types) and Google AdSense to show advertisements. Neither service receives your image content. We do not collect your name, email, or any personal information. You can manage cookie preferences using the cookie banner.
Yes. Because files never leave your device, confidential contracts, financial documents, medical records, and legal papers can be processed without any privacy risk. The processing is technically identical to opening a file in Adobe Acrobat on your own computer.
After the page has fully loaded, the core tools will continue to work even if your internet connection drops. This is because all the processing code is already downloaded to your browser. For the best experience, keep your browser tab open after first loading.

Pricing and Limits

Yes, completely free. No hidden costs, no premium tier, no daily limits, no account required. The site is funded by advertising, which allows us to offer unlimited free use. We do not offer a paid plan because our infrastructure costs are minimal — all processing happens on your device, not our servers.
There is no imposed file size limit. However, because processing happens in your browser's memory, very large files (over 200MB) may be slow to process on older devices or devices with limited RAM. Modern computers and phones handle most image files without issue.
Unlimited. There is no daily cap, no rate limit, and no account required. Process as many files as you need.

Tools and Functionality

ImageZen4u currently offers 24 tools: Merge image, Split image, Compress image, image to JPG, JPG to image, PNG to image, Rotate image, Delete Pages, Organize Pages, Crop image, Watermark image, Number Pages, Add Header and Footer, Flatten image, Repair image, Sign image, Protect image, Unlock image, image to Text, Extract Images, Grayscale image, and image Reader.
ImageZen4u compresses images by re-rendering pages and optimising the document structure. images that are already heavily compressed, or images containing mostly text (rather than images), may not compress significantly further. Image-heavy images — such as scanned documents — typically compress the most.
Yes. The Merge image tool accepts as many files as you need. Drop them all at once and drag to reorder before merging.
The Unlock image tool removes password protection from documents where you know the password. It cannot bypass unknown passwords — this would be a security vulnerability. If you have forgotten the password to your own document and genuinely need to recover it, specialised recovery software may be able to help.
A drawn electronic signature is legally valid for most everyday documents in most jurisdictions, including under the EU eIDAS regulation, the US ESIGN Act, and the UK Electronic Communications Act. For documents specifically requiring a qualified electronic signature (QES) with identity verification, you would need a certificate-based signing service.
Currently ImageZen4u converts JPG and PNG images to image. Word to image conversion is in development. For HTML to image, printing the page using your browser's print function and selecting "Save as image" as the printer is the most reliable method.

Technical Questions

All modern browsers are supported: Chrome, Firefox, Safari (version 14+), Edge, and Opera. Internet Explorer is not supported. For the best experience, use the latest version of Chrome or Firefox.
Yes. All tools work on smartphones and tablets. Touch gestures are supported for tools like Sign image (draw your signature with your finger) and Crop image. Drag-and-drop works on desktop; on mobile, use the "tap to browse" function instead.
Since all processing happens in your browser rather than on a fast server, your device's processor and available memory determine the speed. A 100MB image will process more slowly than a 2MB image. This is the trade-off for complete privacy — your files stay on your device, but your device does the work.
